Vorlage Racing Club is looking forward to another great season of ski racing. Our competitive programs will be growing this year with as many as 40 athletes including 5 Juniors. We are also looking forward to roughly 50 Nancy Greene athletes in our 1 and 2 day programs.

Members of the club can refer enquiries to the program co-coordinators. Thanks for your help with this!

Nancy Greene

Ages 7 13 (non-competitive)

The Nancy Greene Racing Program is geared toward children between the ages of 6 and 13. It provides a fun environment for young skiers entering a ski racing program. The program will enhance their current skiing abilities and introduce them to the sport of alpine ski racing in a non-threatening manner. Skiing mileage on varied terrain and the acquisition of skiing skills are emphasized. Training, utilizing gates and other aids introduce the young skier to the race environment. Although competition is introduced in the Nancy Greene Racing Program, it is done with an emphasis on team results. We offer both a one day and two day program, from January to mid-March at our host facility Ski Vorlage in Wakefield, Québec. All program coaching is provided by certified CSCF/CSIA professionals. Two day racers participate in 4 events, with 2 held at other venues such as Mont Ste. Marie and Edelweiss. One day racers have the opportunity to participate at our 2 home events including an invitational meet which brings together racers from all over the Region.

I2 - Intro 2

Ages 8 - 10

An excellent introductory program for racers looking to continue in competitive ski racing. This is the next step in a Nancy Greene athlete’s development. Emphasis is on utilizing sport to create an environment where young athletes can develop to their full potential personally and athletically. Athletes learn age-appropriate slalom and giant slalom along with the technical skills to further develop their racing and skiing proficiency. Athletes are exposed to a variety of training environments to develop sportsmanship, positive thinking and a strong technical foundation from which to progress. Although our goal is to have our athletes succeed at the races, the coaches are mindful of the long-term development of the athletes and follow guidelines set out by Alpine Canada regarding this development. Athletes are further introduced to the Ouataouais Ski Zone/National Capital Division race circuit and compete individually with athletes from all local clubs. Pre-season Dryland fitness training is offered beginning in September. The Vorlage racing community provides an environment where ski racing is enjoyable and kids can still have fun.

K1 - Kinder 1

Ages 11 - 12

Athletes at this level are continuing to develop and refine racing skills and compete in slalom and giant slalom events. Racers are introduced to speed events through a speed training camp. In the pre-season, athletes participate in Dryland training once or twice a week from the beginning of September and may attend an early season training camp in December. All club K1 racers continue to compete in races on the local OSZ/NCD circuit, and based on results, may also be selected to represent the Zone at Provincial Championships or be invited to other invitational events such as the Quebec Games. Coaches train athletes to begin to develop more independent problem solving skills and maintain the importance of sportsmanship and a hard-work ethic acquired in the I2 program.

K2 - Kinder 2

Ages 13 - 14

At the K2 level, the focus is on building the racer in a competitive program. Coaches work with athletes to refine technical and tactical skills in all disciplines of ski racing. Participation in Dryland training and pre-season training camps is strongly encouraged at this level. Racers continue to compete in the OSZ-NCD race circuit and may qualify to compete at the Provincial and National Championships, along with the Taschereau Cup and the Whistler Cup. Athletes are exposed to more complex and demanding training and competitive situations in order to train the skier to be more autonomous and develop solutions to problems more independently. Although there is a great deal of focus on technical and tactical ski racing skills, coaches work with athletes to help them acquire the personal tools to excel in and out of the sport.

J1/J2 - Junior

Ages 15 - 18

The goal of the Junior Race Program at Vorlage is to expose the athletes to both the local and the Provincial Cadet Cup races where they can be challenged to perform at their best as well as be exposed to a wider more experienced field. Time on snow and fitness are a priority. For this reason the athletes participate in camps in December and early January to hone their skills in preparation for the race season. Athletes work hard on the hill to refine all aspects of ski racing and develop a professional attitude towards personal and athletic development. Coaches also work with athletes to balance school and sport, and help them to develop important tools and confidence to succeed as elite athletes and young adults.
