It’s Ski-a-thon time again….
Without fundraising such as the ski-a-thon, we would not be able to provide the coach to athlete ratio that we have. We would not be able to hire the experienced coaches that we have and we would not be able to run a program with the lowest fees in the area.
Add to that the cost of equipment that is required to run a program. Did you know that one drill bit costs about $200 dollars? Did you know that we bought new bibs and gate panels that cost about $4500? Did you know that we paid over $1000 for new drills? Did you know that one headset needed for timing costs $340? Did you know that it costs over $600 for a coach to upgrade their certification to a level II?
As you can see, there are a lot of expenses in running a successful racing club. Registration fees generate less than 70% of the revenue required to break even. Now you understand why fund raising is so important.
The ski-a-thon is the major fundraiser for our club. Please encourage your racer to get out and gather up those pledges before February 13th. This is the only opportunity for a racer to spend some time to give back to the club that has given them such a thrill over the winter. If everyone contributes just $75.00, our goal of $5500 is very realistic and attainable.
This year there will be a slight change in format. Instead of free-skiing, the racers will be skiing through a course or courses.
Parents - not only are we asking that you get back all that chocolate and raffle money you spent on your colleagues' fundraisers over the past year, but we are also asking that you get in touch with any contacts you may have that would be willing to sponsor the club.
